Sixteen Top Tips When Choosing Your New Kitchen

  1. 18mm Rigid Built Cabinets. Whilst a flat-pack carcase may cost less initially, by the time you pay for your joiner to assemble, glue and screw and then leave your new kitchen to set, you will have saved a small fortune by buying quality ready built cabinets in the first place.
  2. Cabinets from Melamine Faced Chipboard (MFC). Your whole new kitchen is built around the quality of your new unit cabinets. Eggerboard is universally recognised as a top quality board used for kitchen cabinets.
  3. 18mm Unit Back Panels. Remember shutting the door of an overfull cupboard and pushing the hardboard back panel out of its groove? Impossilble to replace securely as they are stapled in place from behind - everything starts falling down the back - lost forever! Rigid backs - seriously a must have.
  4. Colour Coordinated Carcase. Lovely wooden doors then you open the door to an horrendous pale carcase within. The overwhelming sign of a cheap kitchen! (Plus you have to pay for, and pay your joiner to fit, colour-coordinated end panels on the outside of all runs of units).
  5. 2mm PVC edging to all front edges. Thin taped unit and shelf edges chip and blister and peel allowing dirt, germs and moisture to enter.
  6. PVC edging to rear of unit and to shelf backs and sides. Helps prevent water damage if you have a spill.
  7. Services Void at Rear. Every kitchen needs pipes and cables to run behind units. Keep in your plumber and electricians good books.
  8. 3 Dimensional Hinges. Ability to adjust doors up/down, left/right and in/out for a perfectly aligned kitchen.
  9. Hettich Softclose Drawers and Hinges. Softclose is a must and nobody does it better than Hettich. The best selling softclose drawer and door mechanisms in Germany.
  10. All drawer boxes pre-fitted to save your joiner's time and to ensure they work correctly.
  11. All door fronts factory fitted and adjusted. Saves your joiner time and ensures correct fitting.
  12. Concealed wall unit hangers. No ugly plastic boxes in the corner of your wall units.
  13. Made-to-Measure Units. Units manufactured to fill the space available without the need for nasty packers or odd sized towel rails!
  14. Factory-Fitted Wireworks. A full range of integrated wireworks and storage units makes a good kitchen great. Factory fitting ensures they are fitted correctly - and work! And saves a fortune of joiners time!
  15. Handed Doors. Instead of pre-drilling both sides of every door for left and right hand and filling the spare hole with a plastic cap - which always fall out!
